Get Schooled by The Carters - Beyonce & Jay-Z donate $1M in scholarships

Beyonce and Jay-Z are donating more than 1 million US dollars to help high school students to continue their studies. The students across 11 cities will be selected by the non-profit organization, Boys and Girls Club of America.

Those chosen must reside in one the of the US cities: Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Arlington, New Orleans, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Clara, and Seattle, where The Carters have performed On the Run II tour.

According to a joint press release from The Carters, the students must demonstrate “academic excellence” and show “financial needs that would make it hard for them to enter a college or university for the academic year 2018-2019”.

This is not a first time when the Carters have awarded scholarships to students. Previously, they awarded students from HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) with $25,000 scholarships.
